According to an old local story, a shepherd from the village of Reinosa made the decission of setting his favourite old horse free, letting him run peacefully in the green surrounding pastures.
A few weeks later, bumping into the animal by chance, he got puzzled at the fact that it looked much spirited and rejuvenated. Trying to explain this strange happening, he found the answer in the warter spring flowing nearby. As a result, this spring began to be known in the area at the very beginning of the 19th century; not much later, a rustic "Water house" was built. In 1878 the water started to be commercialized. But it would be only until the beginning of the 20th century, that the new owner, Juan correa -whose woman had been healed by the water- undertook the task of building the first hotel, "Water spring Hotel", giving it the final push to the water and guesthouse bussines. The initial hotel became lately the present and definitive "Grand Spa-Hotel", established in 1922.

The Cantabrian society for celiac disease (Acecan) certifies that the staff from Corconte Hotel has attended the training course "Adecuate handling, cooking and service of gluten-free meals"

This company has been distinguished with the "Q" brand, granted through the Spanish Institute for Touristic Excellence, due to its outstanding quality standards in service
